Project Diary - Diary 18

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Waited five fucking hours at OKC for a flight.  And then got sicker & sicker on the plane.  When we finally landed, the air was shut off, but the pilots kept having to back up and re-align the plane because the doors weren’t opening.  Another 45 minutes and I was to the point of collapse.  I just wanted to get home.  Thank goodness I still have some antibiotic.

Never again do I want to go to OKC.

Ron picked up Andrew and got them some dinner.  I told him I trade and pick Andrew up Saturday afternoon.  He doesn’t have work today due to a conference, so I can spend the night resting.

Didn’t do any laundry, only ate some pudding to coat my stomach, didn’t really put anything away.

Slept on the couch because I was sweating up a storm.  Had the air on at 73, when I never put it below 75, and usually at 78.

Wednesday, July 25

Went over a lot today. It's a lot to take in. Because initially we will only be worrying abt the IL rollout, our process will be simpler. So I'll be doing the jobs that five people do in OK. Eventually they've talked abt getting be an asst. Right before rollout, probably in Sept, A & BG will come out to Chicagi to help with the warehouse flow, inventory audits, & SAP.

I'm going back w/lots of questions and suggestions.

One thing that bothered me was no one wondered or asked what I was doing 4 lunch. And then the office mgr went around and asked all the office personnel if they wanted anything from Burger King. She didn't even consider me, and I was sitting right there! I was really hurt.

So when I got done meeting everyone, it was only 3:50. I wasn't going to sit around doing nothing, so I left for the day. Relaxed, went to dinner (rememberedy $ this time).

Abt 815, I went downtown to see the OKC Nat'l Memorial. Went at the right time. It was dusk, the weather was nice, and all the lights were coming on.

When I get back I'll post the pictures I took.

Doing this from my phone.

1st my flight gets cancelled due to bad storms in Chicago.
2nd the plane coming from Providence for 1hr later gets delayed because of said storms.
3rd the flight crew from Rochester gets delayed 2hrs due to said storm.

In between they kept moving us from gate to gate to gate to gate.

And it's hot.as.fricking.Hell here! By 5:30 I had wilted. Took a shower & thought abt going to.the outdoor Oklahoma National Memorial, but I was too fricking tired. Maybe tomorrow aft work.

At least I have a king-sized bed.

Went to Applebee's for dinner. Forgot my cash. Had to leave my driver's license while I drove back to the hotel to pick it up. Left the waiter a $10 tip as a Thank You, on a $12 bill.

As far as work, it's a lot to take in. Tomorrow learning WOP, meeting w/warehouse mgr, production mgr, and purchasing mgr.

Project Diary - Day 15

Monday, July 23 2012

Got up early today, even before Ron left.  Unless it’s because I’m “preparing myself” for getting up early tomorrow.  But really, it’s not like I have to get up at 3 or 4 tomorrow.  My flight leaves at 9 and I’m about 45 min from O’Hare.

Sent another – not so nice – fax to IDES using the ‘f’ word several times.

The remaining 100 cabinets arrived today, which I guess is a good thing, so I could verify the serial numbers, update the spreadsheet, and send everything over to our purchasing agent.

Went down to K & D’s to borrow their carry-on.  Ours is just a small bag.

It’s so nice to finally have work to do, at work.  While I don’t mind being paid for reading the news, or anything, I prefer to actually work!

Hopefully Andrew gets paid soon.  We need his rent money for gas – we’re spending so much more driving him around.

Pictures of Nancy's gift

I finally figured I better post these before I take off tomorrow.  I'll be gone in OKC the rest of the week, and can probably borrow a computer at the hotel to do some stuff, but I'm not bringing my camera.

So anyway, here is the lovely gift.

Project Diary - Day 14

Sunday, July 22 2012

Fell asleep last night in front of the TV Woke up at midnight w/Lily growling & barking at something.  Probably a leaf.  She thinks she’s a guard dog.

Had another weird dream during that “nap”.  I dreamt I had custody of my SIL’s little boy when – we suspect – made her husband disappear.  There were photos and surveillance videos of what looked like her, but not enough evidence, including a body.  She decided to fight me to get temporary emergency custody.  And she got all pissed when told the Judge would hear the case in three days.  The weird thing is that I lived with my MIL in a good suburb.  Now there was nothing in the dream that mentioned Ron?!  That’s weird – as is me living with the Bitch-in-law.  I’d rather move of the streets.

We DID foster our two nephews for some months when their guardian – paternal grandmother – was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  But when the state was officially notified (their father was in prison, their mother’s b/f wanted no children), they came in and took all three (J was staying with a friend) and put them in an “official” foster home.

That was years ago, though and I haven’t thought of it in a long time.

Andrew & I went to Kmart today, and then the library.  Nothing much else happened, other than some housework.  I missed the chat because we were running around.

Nancy isn't the only one w/weird dreams...

Friday night, I fell asleep on the couch.  I dreamt I had custody of my SIL’s little boy when – we suspect – she made her husband disappear.  There were photos and surveillance videos of what looked like her, but not enough evidence, including a body.  She decided to fight me to get temporary emergency custody.  And she got all pissed when told the Judge would hear the case in three days.  Our attorney assured us we would win, mostly because we lived in a good neighborhood and she lived in the slums.  And the judge would take the nephew's education possibilities  very seriously.  The weird thing is that I lived with my MIL in a good suburb.  Now there was nothing in the dream that mentioned Ron?!  That’s weird – as is me living with the Bitch-in-law.  I’d rather move of the streets.

Project Diary - Day 13

July 21, 2012

Pretty quiet for a Saturday.

Ron took Andrew for his drivers’ license while I worked on copying all our pictures & files to CDs.  Wouldn’t you know it that at 8am I’m almost done – only family & vacation pictures to do – I hear a loud ‘pop’ and poof - the power went off.  A transformer blew down the street.  And of course this is the hottest day of the weekend.  Luckily it was off for only several hours.

Andrew didn’t pass his test.  It was mostly stupid stuff, but he didn’t make a complete stop at one stop sign and started to proceed and another car had the right of way.  Major points off right there.  I told him not to worry about it.  A lot of people do not pass the first time.  Now he knows what he was doing wrong (like stopping ON the white line, rather than before it) and work on that.

But it means he hoofs it up to the bus stop this week, when I go to OKC.  He calls it his punishment for not passing.

Had a dream about Daisy.  The vet didn’t put her down, but kept her in a cage at his office.  We went there for shots for Lily and Daisy escaped.  But I couldn’t understand how she survived for six months with no food, because they said she hadn’t been eating at all.  The blame in her eyes for making her live in a cage for six months, was terrible.  We ended up stealing her back, and then didn’t get Lily her shots.  Weird.

Project Diary - Day 12

July 20, 2012

Still working on city, village, state project.  Hope(d) to be finish(ed) today.

Possible good news on the house:  We may have a buyer.  Which means we can completely avoid the Mea Culpa/Deed in Lieu.  Our current tenants’ brother is interested.  Since I’m out of town this week, I put a hold on the bank process since we didn’t sign anything (we can always pick it up in the future if we want) and will talk to Jimmy or Johnny this weekend or as soon as possible.  In the meantime, I’m going to call our real estate agent to let him know it’s a possibility.  I really don’t want to quibble on price, since I just want to be rid of it.

I was stupid enough to go pick up Andrew w/o him calling first.

It’s not as hot today, but will be tomorrow and I have the truck.  Blech!

Project Diary - Day 11

July 19, 2012

So exhausted last night.  Had Ron pick up Andrew so he could practice driving.

No internet at work today for several hours.  Don’t know if it was related to the storms or not, but we’ve had Outlook & Spark problems for quite a few days.  They run off the internet.  Could hardly get anything done.

Working on a project to Google Earth every single city, village, and county in the State of IL for a spreadsheet.

Today is Karen’s birthday.  Went down to 1st Place for 1-1/2 hours to visit with her.  She looks way too bleached – both in the face and the hair.

Finished today with my iTouch test, starting today with ‘The Way’ (Clay Aiken) thru ’18 & Life’ (Skid Row), including the 7 new songs I copied from CD’s over the weekend.  So it took me 8 ½ days to go through all my songs, that weren’t Christmas.
